Our Story
Spreading happiness
JR Kyushu Hotels and Resorts operates 17 diverse properties, ranging from luxury to casual, in prime locations near stations and tourist attractions throughout Kyushu, Tokyo, Kyoto, and Okinawa.
With the purpose of ‘ Spreading happiness from our hotel to the wider world through the hospitality in each individual's heart ’, we operate ‘hotels of value’ to serve as a bridge between our guests and the local community.
In October 2024, group companies merged to form JR Kyushu Hotels and Resorts.
Could you tell us what prompted the change of uniform?
Previous uniform was well-liked by many staff members, but there was a growing demand for improved comfort and functionality during long working hours, as well as for a more contemporary design.
Listening to such voices, and with the significant milestone of our company merger imminent, we decided to renew the uniforms that symbolise our hotel. This renewal enables each member of staff to embark on this new phase with renewed spirit.
What aspects did you prioritise when producing the uniforms?
The primary focus of the uniform redesign was on “ individuality ” and “ Comfort ”.。
In fostering an environment that respects diversity and enables each staff member to work freely and comfortably with creative ideas, we sought flexibility that avoids rigid conformity.
Furthermore, as we operate multiple hotels in different regions and climates, ensuring all staff can work comfortably is also a key consideration.
We prioritised the use of materials offering excellent stretch and breathability, ensuring comfort for extended periods of work. Ease of putting on and taking off, along with straightforward daily maintenance, were also key functionalities we sought to incorporate.
The fabric used is ‘ 2-Way Stretch Top Gabardine ’. It features stretch and a soft, supple texture. It incorporates antistatic yarn to suppress static electricity.
We focused on incorporating numerous on-site staff as project members and advancing the project through a team structure. We aimed to create uniforms that truly embodied our own aspirations, thoroughly reflecting the voices of those on the ground.
How do you find wearing the new uniform ?
Male staff members have frequently remarked that the no-tie and T-shirt design significantly improves ease of movement, makes changing clothes easier, and allows for a more comfortable working experience.
emale staff members particularly appreciate the ability to change combinations depending on the day, the ease of movement afforded by the skirt, and the flexibility to adjust the style according to temperature and physical condition.
Many people say that being able to freely mix and match items for coordination is a great way to change things up.
How has the response been to the uniform redesign ?
Customers have commented that it is ‘ Refreshing and pleasant ’ and ‘ Smart and lovely ’.
Staff from other hotels also highly praised it, remarking, ‘ How enviable ! This style will become the norm from now on.’
Furthermore, we have received favourable feedback from our business partners and cleaning contractors, who have remarked that the new uniforms are more contemporary and stylish compared to the previous ones.
Whilst each hotel possesses its own distinctive character, the design has been crafted to blend naturally with every facility whilst maintaining a sense of cohesion.
Despite our seemingly unreasonable proposals and requests, you approached them with sincerity and managed to realise almost all of them.
We are sincerely grateful that, even when faced with challenges such as specification changes during production that were extremely difficult to accommodate, you thoroughly understood our intentions and provided optimal alternatives and proposals.
We feel that each member of staff now approaches their duties with greater pride. Furthermore, through our new uniforms, we believe we are able to convey our company's stance and values to our customers, thereby fostering an even greater sense of reassurance and trust.
