Uniforms that coexist with marine creatures
" Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise " is a comprehensive leisure facility with four aquariums, one of the largest in Japan, located in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
We created bespoke uniforms with a wide range of variations based on the voices of the on-site breeding staff.
CASE 1 : Theme Park
Our Story
Blue that makes you feel the ocean
The theme requested was "a playful design inspired by living creatures to express the character of Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, with blue as the base color to give a sense of the expression of the sea."
Since many of the facilities are outdoors, they must be cool in summer & warm in winter.
Pockets are zippered to prevent them from falling out & the materials are easy to dry.

The key point is the original camouflage fabric, which hides many sea creatures of Sea Paradise.
Other features such as the front zipper, chest flap, snap buttons, & hardware that are not exposed are designed to prevent harming living creatures.
Action pleats on the back & darts at the elbows create a roomy feel & improve ease of movement.
In addition, the waist pouch is designed with vents to prevent it from becoming bulky, making this uniform design more accommodating to staff members.
Pants

Matching pants with the blouson.
The silhouettes of the creatures are designed in an original camouflage pattern so that the smudges & stains handled by the squid, which are the food of the creatures, do not stand out.
Action pleats at the knees for ease of movement. Cargo pockets on the left & right sides for storage.
Loops are attached at the waist for attaching pouches & other items.
The flap of the back pocket is designed to conceal the snap buttons & care for living things.
Thermal Liner

A thermal liner is available for fall and winter wear to allow for year-round wear.
It is easy to remove and attach, and can be selected according to the staff's experience.

This is an original camouflage design with many sea creatures of Sea Paradise hidden in it.
The overall impression is also considered to match the blouson pants.
Polo Shirt
Polyester 100%
The custom-made polo shirts are made of polyester, a material with sweat-absorbing & quick-drying properties, making them comfortable to wear all year round.
The chest is decorated with a pair of marine creatures. The sleeves are also decorated with the Sea Paradise logo emblem, plus a name plate loop on the chest.
The Sea Paradise Circle is printed with an undersea image of living creatures.
The sides of both hems are slit for ease of movement.

The design features dolphins, penguins, sea lions, & yellow-bellied toads that will make your heart warm just by looking at them. Four types are available for staff to choose from depending on their mood of the day.

Seaplane circle with luminescent print. It emits light in dark places, so you can recognize the staff at a glance & increase their visibility.

After the delivery of this custom-made uniform, we received valuable feedback from the person in charge at Yokohama Hakkeijima.
Q : Please tell us why you decided to switch uniforms this time.
A : Our breeding staff uniforms had not been changed over 20 years & were deteriorating rapidly, so we decided to renew them with a better design & more functional uniforms.
Q : Please let us know the theme, design, Features you would like to see in the uniform changeover, as well as any features you would like to see for your breeding staff.
A : To express the character of Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, we wanted a playful design inspired by living creatures & based on the colour blue to convey the expression of the sea.We also requested that all pockets have zippers to prevent items from falling into the tank, & that they be made of materials that dry easily because they sometimes get wet.
Q : Please tell us why you selected our Boston's proposal.
A : After incorporating our company's requests, the blouson proposal was particularly eye-catching, as it was attractive and not available at other parks. We had originally planned to have blousons made for summer and winter, but they came up with a functional blouson with a detachable liner, and they also made some innovations to the cargo pants to make them easier to move around in during work. We have chosen to work with your company because of this.
Q : How was the actual initiative with our company in terms of proposals and response?
A : Before receiving our initial proposal, the designer personally toured our facilities & interviewed our staff about the old uniforms. We believe that the designer was able to produce uniforms with the "SeaPara style" because he saw the old uniforms with his own eyes. We were also able to make samples many times and modify the design & functions after seeing the actual product, so we were able to proceed with the production with an image of the completed product in mind.
Q : How does it feel to actually wear the new uniforms? Please tell us about your comfort and what you like about it.
A : I found the uniform to be very easy to move around in and functional to support my work. The same design was used throughout the year, but different fabric items were produced for each season, saving us the trouble of changing clothes & allowing each staff member to choose according to his or her own experience. In addition, while working, the uniforms inevitably get stains from rust and food juices, but the camouflage pattern makes the stains less noticeable & keeps the uniforms looking clean.
Q : Has there been any change in your staff's motivation to wear the new uniforms ?
A : The specifications of the uniforms have not changed for more than 20 years, so I am able to go about my work with a renewed spirit along with the uniforms. The polo shirts have four different designs on the chest, so I can choose the design I want to wear depending on my mood that day, which gives me something to look forward to when I come to work.
Q : How has the response been from the public & general customers since the switch to the new uniforms ?
A : Customers who notice the camouflage design of the cargo pants, with silhouettes of living creatures hidden in the camouflage pattern, often want to chat with us about them. Some children even imitate our staff uniforms with their navy blue tops & blue camouflage pants ! We very often receive compliments from the breeding staff of other park pavilions too.
Q : We hope that the new uniforms have helped your company's branding.
A : In terms of functionality as well as design, the playful uniforms were inspired by the sea creatures that are the stars of Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise & embody our slogan, "Bringing smiles and excitement to the world through living creatures," which we believe has helped build our brand.
